Course Details

Delivery Method: Blended Learning. Online learning combined with attendance at a one day practical session.

Course Covers: This course meets Forestry Commission requirements for Emergency First Aid at Work + Forestry (EFAW+F) and is designed for those working in forestry, arboriculture, and remote outdoor environments.

Delivered through a blended learning format, the course combines a 2.5+ hour online learning module with a practical training day. The online module must be completed before attending the face-to-face session.

The course covers the roles and responsibilities of an emergency first aider, casualty assessment, incident management, CPR and AED use, unconscious casualties, choking, bleeding, shock, and burns.

Forestry-specific content includes severe and catastrophic bleeding, chainsaw injuries, crush injuries, hypothermia, Lyme disease, remote casualty management, emergency communications, casualty evacuation, and managing incidents where emergency assistance may be delayed.

Practical training uses realistic forestry and outdoor scenarios to develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to respond effectively to emergencies in woodland and remote environments.

For professional drivers, this course can also be uploaded as 7 hours of Driver CPC Periodic Training for an additional fee. Please advise us at the time of booking if you require CPC upload.

Requirements: No previous first aid experience is required. This course is designed for forestry workers, arborists, tree planters, vegetation clearance teams, estate workers, contractors, and anyone working in remote outdoor or woodland environments. A practical approach, willingness to participate, and a good sense of humour will help you get the most from the training.

Qualification Gained: Upon successful completion, learners will receive an Emergency First Aid at Work + Forestry (EFAW+F) Certificate, meeting Forestry Commission and forestry industry first aid requirements. The qualification is valid for three years.

Fitness: This is an active, practical course. Learners must be able to participate in practical assessments, including kneeling on the floor, performing CPR, placing casualties into the recovery position, and taking part in realistic first aid scenarios. Training may involve outdoor exercises and uneven terrain. Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for practical activities and outdoor conditions.
